Notes of macadamia nut, cocoa nib and a hint of raisin are complemented by a low acidity and a soft, creamy finish. Brew Method: Filter - AeroPress Coffee / Water: 15g / 230g Grind: Medium coarse (think breadcrumbs) Water temp: 93°C Total brew time: Around 3 minutes Summer 2024 was our first visit to Pico Mirante, run by Adolfo Ferreira – we were welcomed like family. It’s hard to explain what makes a great producer-roaster relationship but with Adolfo, we just got that feeling. He’s warm, genuine and it’s clear he really cares – not just about coffee but about people. Unlike some farms we visited where things felt a bit by-the-book, Pico Mirante stood out. Adolfo treats his team with real respect and they return year after year. There are thoughtful touches everywhere: he’s swapped out petrol-powered harvesters for quiet battery-operated ones and we ended up playing table football with the team while coffee dried on the patios. Set high above his other farm Passeio, Pico Mirante isn’t some sprawling industrial operation. It’s a stunning steep farm dotted with native forest and natural shade. This farm is one-in-a-million, and it just seemed like a no-brainer that when we cupped his coffee and it tasted fantastic, we couldn’t say no to taking it for our single-origin Brazil option for the foreseeable future.
