⭐️⭐️ Great Taste 2026 — Outstanding Award Above and beyond delicious, impressive quality, and a great example of its kind; won by about 10% of entries.
Black Kampot Pepper is the boldest and most intense of the Kampot family — hand-picked and sun-dried early in the season to lock in its powerful aromatic oils. With distinctive hints of eucalyptus, mint, and warm spice, it delivers a long, satisfying finish that keeps building on the palate.
What the Great Taste Judges Said
"These are very attractive peppercorns in the dish, while the flavour builds so well, bringing the floral notes that round the warmth. The journey on the palate is a grand one with a long finish leaving us wanting more. Simply delicious."
"A very intriguing pepper — a capsicum heat alongside fruity cooling menthol. The heat is rasping but pleasant and lingers. The mint notes are fresh, bright and herbaceous. A wonderfully versatile pepper."
"These peppercorns have excellent structure and a rich, clean, spicy aroma. The peppercorns release a spicy warm flavour which is natural and intense, with a very satisfying level of warmth."
How to Use Black Kampot Pepper
Its bold, herbaceous character makes it exceptional with:
Red meat — steak, lamb, and slow-braised beef
Risotto and buttery pasta
Classic mint sauce with lamb
Dropped into mint tea or over a mojito
Mixed with lime juice as a zingy dipping sauce for white crab or beef strips
About Kampot Pepper
Kampot Pepper has been cultivated in the azure hills of southern Cambodia for centuries — first documented by Chinese explorer Tchéou Ta Kouan in the 13th century. Production nearly ceased under the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s, but has since been revived and granted Protected Geographical Indicator (PGI) status — making it the champagne of the pepper world. In chef circles, it is regarded as the finest pepper on earth.
